Lose a mission and your next try is easier; lose it twice and Charlie can’t lose it. A win sets it back to normal.

    Chill Mode

Charlie’s week is a lot. Chill Mode is here so everyone gets to see how it ends: little pups, grown-up pups, first-timers, and anyone who’d just like a calmer walk. Turn on as much or as little as you like. It’s still the whole story.

    Assists

Stars count the same. Survival runs with Chill Mode on stay off Top Dogs and Game Center, so the boards compare like with like. Changes start with the next mission. Auto Play Mode plays itself, so it doesn’t need any of this.

      How to be Charlie

Every hooman in Charlie’s life is unstable, unreliable or just plain unpredictable. Luckily, Charlie is a mini Australian Shepherd, one of the smartest dogs there is.

      The job

Grab Charlie’s things (Lamb Lamb, Chicken, his squeaky duck…) before the hoomans ruin them. When you have them all, Fluffy shows up for walkies (Aunty and Puppy tag along). Get to the glowing door to escape.

      Moving

Phone: put your thumb down anywhere and drag. Keyboard: arrow keys or WASD.

Can’t hold a key down? → Tap to toggle: tap a direction and Charlie keeps walking. Every key and controller button can be changed there too.

      Seeing more

Zoom out to see the room, or the whole place: tap the Wider button (Close, Room, Whole), pinch with two fingers, scroll or pinch on a trackpad, press − and +, or L1/LB and R1/RB on a controller. Charlie remembers your choice. In Auto Play Mode the camera also pulls back by itself when something happens across the room.

      Auto Play Mode by ear

With a screen reader, Auto Play Mode describes itself between the voices: the narrator, who’s talking, where Charlie is and each highlight. Pause and pick Today so far to go over the day. Turn it off in (Describe Auto Play Mode).

      Charlie’s smarts

      • Zoomies (Space): a burst of speed. Nothing can touch Charlie mid-zoom, so zoom through fire.
      • Puppy Eyes (E): melts every hooman nearby. Cools Fluffy right down and makes Grandpa pick up his pills.
      • Herd Bark (Q): Aussies herd. Shoves hoomans away and cancels what they were about to do. But the Super hears it.
      • Danger sense: Charlie sees trouble coming. Red zones on the floor are about to go bad. Get out of them.

      In the car

Aunty drives like a maniac. When a sign flashes, Charlie is about to be thrown the way the arrow points: push the other way (or zoom) so he doesn’t slam into the doors or seats.

      At the beach

Some toys are buried: a mound with a DIG tag. Stop right on it and hold still while Charlie digs (walking over it isn’t enough). Stay above the foam line when a wave comes in, and watch the sky for seagulls.

      Pick-ups

Charlie’s health bar: every hit takes a chunk. Everything he picks up tops it back up: his things (Lamb Lamb, Chicken, his squeaky duck), treats, Evian (only Evian) and Grandpa’s half-eaten soup heal the most.

Stand still next to someone friendly and they’ll pet Charlie: points, and a little health.

The diamond over Fluffy and Grandpa is their mood, like in The Sims: green is happy, red is about to blow. Grandpa gets angrier every time Fluffy ignores him for his phone.

      Watch out for

Grandpa’s pills (toxic!), forgotten potatoes, wet floors (slippery), the vacuum, violation notices, and the fallout when Fluffy’s face goes red (he’s raging at everyone else, never Charlie, but fire is fire).
